Snow, snow, snow

We have been getting quite a bit of snow up here lately.
Once the snow finally melts, it seems as though the sky opens up and dumps some more on us.
It is beautiful, but shoveling is less than enjoyable.
I don't know what I am complaining about, I barely shovel. Jeremiah does it all.

Anyways, Zucca loves the snow. If I throw a tennis ball out there in the yard for hin
Here are some pics.

In fact there has been so much snow that I had to, HAD TO purchase a pair of these boots by Keen

They're engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a little late because it happened on Halloween, but it's never too late to post something so exciting.
My dear friends Jess and Ty are engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay.

Jess and Ty met on a plane when Jess had to take a work trip to San Francisco.
Man, that feels like ages ago now, I was still living in DC at the time.

Anyways they soon started dating and as they say, the rest is history.

They are planning a wedding for next fall and from the sounds of it, it's going to be a blast.

I am so very happy for them and looking forward to this glorious occasion.
Ty is definitely the perfect lid to Jessica's pot (that's pottery pot, not marijuana).

On that note, my friends Mike and Suzy are also recently engaged. The too live in DC.
Mike is an old friend from high school with whom I reconnected at my friend Laura's wedding this summer.
He and Jeremiah bonded over banjo-talk and I had the pleasure of getting to know Mike's special California gal, Suz.
Like Mike, she is adorable.
Mike and Suzi were our first official house guests following mine and Jeremiah's wedding.
They visited early in November and came over for a night of pizza and red wine. This was pre-engagement.
Anyways. I have to dig up a picture of those two so you can see that lovely couple.

Congratulations and best wishes to both couples.

Homemade hat

After scouring the internet for the perfect little hat to make for my friend Jenn's son Evan

I finally settled on this little knit hat.
Unfortunately the hat seemed small and shapeless so I added the brown crochet edge to neaten it up and to give it some integrity.

I hope that Jenn receives the hat in the mail before she sees this post.

I am working on a baby blanket right now for one of my other friends. I tried making an adorable beret over the Christmas break. My sister-in-law Aarti and I worked on the same pattern while we were in the mountains.
Her's came out adorable and mine came out enormous. So I'm going to try it again.

Here's Aarti's

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello folks,
Sorry about the bad blogging.
I was distracted/busy/sick/relaxing.
Anyways, married life has been a blast.
There's nothing quite like coming home to your best bud everyday, especially when he is so stinkin' funny.

Over the break my sister and her boyfriend, Brian, introduced me to Guitar Hero.

They came over and we had homemade sushi.
Jeremiah's aunt Sabrina had given us a "make your own sushi" basket as a wedding present, complete with everything we could possibly need for a sushi feast (ingredients included).
We've made it 3 times now and I dare say that we are pretty good now.
Heather and Brian, what do you think?

Heather and Brian are brave. This was their second time coming over for dinner. They shared Thanksgiving with us too and here are some pictures from that day.
I brined the turkey in a contractor's bucket.
We also carved the turkey with one of Jed's fixedblade Benchmade knives.
